President’s Message November 2024

President's Messages
No matter how you say it, we are here, and the time is now to VOTE!  Encourage your neighbors and young friends to weigh in on the important races and issues – because every vote really does count, in every race and on every issue.  Remind our new voters that voting is their choice – even if they vote for different party candidates depending on the race, and even if they do not vote for one particular race or measure.  It is a secret ballot, and one’s own choice how to vote.  They need not be swayed by friends, social media, or adults who tell them otherwise.  And we know you will also share your DCRW CFRW / NFRW message that voting Republican is the best choice for their future!  They…

President’s Message October 2024

President's Messages
Ballots have dropped, and you can expect yours the mailbox any day now.  There are MANY measures on the ballot, in addition to candidates and judges.  DCRW aims to help you make sense of it all, and provide you with some information to make your choices. I’ve attended nearly a dozen sessions to learn about the many measures on our November ballot.  These sessions were presented by different groups and speakers, with varying points of view.  As I synthesized the information for myself, I decided to share it with my DCRW member friends, to save you time and give you straight information, with no bias or opinion. Those who attend our luncheon on October 16 will also hear Kathleen Chandler of the Independence Institute share some detail on the biggest questions on the ballot.  Independence…

President’s Message September 2024

President's Messages
Many of us would rather begin this election season differently than Hunter S. Thompson’s chaotic vision to “skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming ‘Wow! What a Ride!’” (The Proud Highway: Saga of a Desperate Southern Gentleman, 1955-1967).  Yet, here we are in Douglas County, Colorado, looking for the point man and dealing with drifting swing riders, while our flank riders struggle to keep the back together. Let me offer my time-honored solution for this ebb and flow of politics:  Keep your head above water, smiling at the sun.  Tread under water when you must, and swim along the shoreline to escape the rip tide.  Avoid a wipe-out by diving into the breakers, and tip your back into the swells as they come. Whether your…

President’s Message June 2024

President's Messages
BALLOTS DROPPED! My friends, it is an important time in our great State. Your neighbors need you to carry the flag and promote our most important civic duty: TO VOTE! In Douglas County Republican Women, we share the common goal and desire to elect Republicans to local and higher office, so that we may be represented by those who share our values and want to retain the character of our County and our State. I ask you then to speak to everyone whom you encounter about the importance of voting for the BOTH the 4th Congressional District Vacancy AND the 4th Congressional District Primary. One is at the bottom of the ballot, and the other is at the top. Greg Lopez is our sole Republican candidate to fill the CD4…

Spring Is In The Air And So Are Elections!!! As you read this message, residents of Lone Tree are filling out ballots for Lone Tree Mayor and City Council, due on May 7.   With Republicans on the ballot, we know we will be in good hands!  Tell your Lone Tree neighbors about your Republican candidates, and offer to deliver a ballot to the drop box (up to 5 ballots at time).  We wish the best of luck to all the Republican candidates! For all Douglas County residents, ballots for the June 25 election are incoming, and, boy, what a long ballot it will be!  This ballot will include the vacancy election for someone to complete the currently-empty U.S. Congress District 4 (CD4) seat (remainder of Ken Buck’s term), and the primary election to set candidates for the next full term for CD4…

President’s Message April 2024

Fundraising, President's Messages
We are deep into the campaign season for federal, state, and local offices, and your engagement makes me so proud to be among you as a Douglas County Republican Woman! The race for Congressional District 4 now includes two components: - to fulfill the rest of Congressman’s Buck’s term, through the end of the year, we have Republican Greg Lopez as our candidate; - for election to the next 2-year term that will begin in January, we have almost 10 Republican candidates. The statewide and county races are equally interesting, with multiple candidates to choose from on the primary ballot. DCRW was out front with a forum for each of the major contested primary races. At our April meeting, you will hear from Barbara Piper on the subject of the…

President’s Message March 2024

President's Messages
Now that we are armed with Frank McNulty’s primer on GOP Caucus, let us all make a great showing on March 7, 2024!  Remember that caucus is the place where you can be selected as a delegate to County and State Assemblies, to place your vote for the primary ballot for candidates for County Commissioner, State House and Senate, new Judicial District 23 District Attorney, and US Congressional District 4 Representative.  It’s a worthwhile evening, and time well spent for you and your GOP community. Super Tuesday, the Presidential Primary, is March 5, 2024.  Mark your ballot and vote – no matter what you hear.  Your vote will be tabulated, and it will make a difference to learn the outcome of the ballot voting. Have you heard from all the…

We are off to the races! It will be a busy campaign season as we get to know the many candidates running for Congressional District 4, the statewide races, and Douglas County seats. DCRW welcomes Republican candidates to speak to members at our monthly luncheon. It is a great way for members to hear about their platforms. Attendees at the monthly luncheon also can talk to candidates before or after the meeting, pickup their literature near the check in table, and donate to our Small Donor Committee (one $50 check per year, and/or cash under $20 as often as you wish). Keep an eye out for upcoming information for our CD4 Candidate Forum, scheduled for late March 27, 2024! If you haven’t forgotten, there are just a few days left…

President's Messages
A new year brings new challenges for Republicans in Colorado.  We should accept these challenges opportunities to educate ourselves and our friends on the issues, and to support strong Republican candidates!  And our upcoming electoral races will certainly keep us busy! Your new Executive Board follows years of strong leadership from Barbara Piper and past presidents before her.  We thank them and prior Boards for their mentorship and dedication.  As your new DCRW President, I promise to learn what they teach, and to do this job with dignity and a commitment to our mission: elect Republicans and educate voters. In the coming months, we will do our best to offer engaging programs, a candidate forum, and fundraising opportunities.  At our luncheon meetings, you will hear updates from our elected officials…
