President’s Message April 2020

President's Messages
Our luncheon venue, the Lone Tree Golf Club and Hotel, is operated by South Suburban Parks and Recreation. All of their recreational facilities are closed through April 30th, and DCRW's April meeting has been canceled. In this time of crisis, our first thought is for your health and safety.  We truly hope that you are safe, healthy and adjusting as best as possible to this new norm. We just wanted to send a note of encouragement in these trying times. It's community and personal support that really makes a difference. Even though we're physically cut off from each other, today we are empowered to connect in ways that weren't possible before. For that we are grateful. If you are in good shape to deal with the hardships the country is going through…

President’s Message March 2020

President's Messages
February has been a month that most of us will not forget because of the visit by our President to Colorado.  If you were lucky enough to go and get in, I don’t have to explain the feeling to you; if you weren’t able to go, I will simply say I have in my lifetime been to many large gatherings, but never have I felt the energy and electricity that I felt in Colorado Springs on the 20th. The feelings, admiration and respect that President Trump and Senator Gardner have for each other was quite evident.  They will truly be an asset to each other in helping us to reelect both men.  I say ‘us’ because it is going to take each and everyone of us to accomplish this goal. …

President’s Message February 2020

President's Messages
Since we won’t meet until after Valentine’s Day, I want to wish you all a Happy Valentine’s Day! Democrats have surpassed Republicans in voter registration in Colorado, and it is crucial that we do everything we can to make sure all Trump supporters are registered to vote in 2020. The Trump Victory Campaign and the Colorado Republican Party are hosting a series of training sessions on voter registration.  I urge you to go to the Colorado GOP’s website and check out the dates, attend a meeting and volunteer.  We CAN turn Colorado Red in 2020, but we need to work together and ensure all Trump supporters are registered to vote. I encourage you to put March 7th on your calendar and attend Caucus.  The Douglas County Republican Party has posted…

President’s Message January 2020

President's Messages
Happy New Year! I hope you’ve enjoyed your time with your family and friends this Christmas and are feeling joyful and optimistic about 2020. This is the year we need to speak up and counter the negative and inaccurate information spewed by the liberal media and the Democrat leaders. Please stay informed and look for opportunities to explain what it means to be a conservative caring for our country and community.  This is not the year to sit on the political sidelines.  To start the New Year right, you’ll hear a status update on the National Popular Vote (NPV) issue at our January meeting. The Republican Caucus will be on March 7th – this is a great way to start getting involved in helping the Republicans in Colorado.  People who…

President’s Message November 2019

President's Messages
Before we jump into the Holiday Day Season, there are a few things we must do to start us off on the right foot in 2020. First, dues are due and must be paid by the end of November for you to be included in the DCRW 2020 Directory.  You may click here and pay online. Second, if you plan to or have purchased an ad to go in the DCRW 2020 Directory, Mona must have your ad copy by the end of November.  You may pay for ads online, also. Third, we must elect our officers for 2020-2021.  Our nominating committee presented a slate of officers at the October meeting; President  Barbara Piper 1st Vice President  Jeanette NewVille 2nd Vice President  Mona Weaver 3rd Vice President  Joyce Paloma Recording…

President’s Message October 2019

President's Messages
I just returned from the NFRW Convention in Indianapolis, home state of our Vice President Mike Pence.  In Indiana, Republicans hold every statewide-elected position, both U.S. Senate seats, seven U.S. House seats, super majorities in the Indiana House and Senate and 89% of County Commissioner seats: a goal the rest of the country should strive to achieve. While there, the Vice President learned of the NFRW Convention and dropped by the hotel to say, “Hi.”  Below is a short portion of what he had to say: “If you all will step forward, redouble your energy, get motivated this week and burst out of Indiana like this is the starting gate, and do all that you can in the days ahead, I believe we’re going to re-elect a Republican majority in…

President’s Message September 2019

President's Messages
Welcome back, we have survived the summer and fall is just around the corner. A lot of exciting things have happened: Former Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley was here to help Senator Gardner kick off his 2020 campaign and the National Popular Vote Referendum has qualified for the 2020 Colorado General Election ballot. Your children and grandchildren are off to school and college.  As I helped my granddaughter fold clothes and pack to leave for her first year of college, I couldn’t help but feel a little uneasy about what she is going to be exposed to.  Even knowing she has grown up with conservative values I still worry about the liberal influence she is going to face.  We need keep all of these young people in our…

President’s Message May 2019

President's Messages
I can’t believe as we are going into our May 2019 meeting it will be our last meeting before our summer recess.  We have had a lot of great programs and I’m sure this month with Amy Oliver Cooke will be just as informative. Don’t forget: we will be electing our delegates to the Annual CFRW Convention to be held the first weekend in October at this meeting.  Please consider becoming more involved and choose to attend the convention. I want to again thank our 3rd VP, Sue Kenfield, for setting up our member survey and want to thank those who took the time to participate. We’ve provided a quick summary on page 4. We again have links to articles with good information for you below: Ben Engen’s - ‘The…

If you missed the March meeting, you missed a fantastic program from David Flaherty of Magellan Strategies and Dick Wadhams, Political Consultant and called ‘The Political Grand Master’ by many.  David and Dick gave us great insight into what has happened in the past and what Colorado is looking forward to in the future and why.  Here is a link into research done by Magellan on the National Popular Vote that you will find interesting. There are way too many things written for us all to read them all or even find them for that matter.  If your DCRW Board finds something that we think would interest or educate you, we will be putting links to those items in the newsletter. To that end, here is a link to a…

Congratulations Ladies – The 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote, was passed by Congress in 1919.  100 years later, we’re celebrating Women’s History Month. If you missed our February meeting, you missed a great program that was best described by Wynne Shaw, “It was a singular privilege today to hear Abraham Lincoln speak about the US Presidents who led our country between George Washington and himself -- and in the process delivered an amazing history lesson for Douglas County Republican Women and Associate Member men. In the Q&A session, President Lincoln was not only familiar with the historical facts surrounding each question asked, but added ‘the rest of the story’ for his fascinated listeners. Well done, John Voehl (as Abe Lincoln).” Congratulations to those Regular and Associate…
