President’s Message September 2019

President's Messages
Welcome back, we have survived the summer and fall is just around the corner. A lot of exciting things have happened: Former Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley was here to help Senator Gardner kick off his 2020 campaign and the National Popular Vote Referendum has qualified for the 2020 Colorado General Election ballot. Your children and grandchildren are off to school and college.  As I helped my granddaughter fold clothes and pack to leave for her first year of college, I couldn’t help but feel a little uneasy about what she is going to be exposed to.  Even knowing she has grown up with conservative values I still worry about the liberal influence she is going to face.  We need keep all of these young people in our…

President’s Message May 2019

President's Messages
I can’t believe as we are going into our May 2019 meeting it will be our last meeting before our summer recess.  We have had a lot of great programs and I’m sure this month with Amy Oliver Cooke will be just as informative. Don’t forget: we will be electing our delegates to the Annual CFRW Convention to be held the first weekend in October at this meeting.  Please consider becoming more involved and choose to attend the convention. I want to again thank our 3rd VP, Sue Kenfield, for setting up our member survey and want to thank those who took the time to participate. We’ve provided a quick summary on page 4. We again have links to articles with good information for you below: Ben Engen’s - ‘The…

If you missed the March meeting, you missed a fantastic program from David Flaherty of Magellan Strategies and Dick Wadhams, Political Consultant and called ‘The Political Grand Master’ by many.  David and Dick gave us great insight into what has happened in the past and what Colorado is looking forward to in the future and why.  Here is a link into research done by Magellan on the National Popular Vote that you will find interesting. There are way too many things written for us all to read them all or even find them for that matter.  If your DCRW Board finds something that we think would interest or educate you, we will be putting links to those items in the newsletter. To that end, here is a link to a…

President’s Message March 2019

President's Messages
Congratulations Ladies – The 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote, was passed by Congress in 1919.  100 years later, we’re celebrating Women’s History Month. If you missed our February meeting, you missed a great program that was best described by Wynne Shaw, “It was a singular privilege today to hear Abraham Lincoln speak about the US Presidents who led our country between George Washington and himself -- and in the process delivered an amazing history lesson for Douglas County Republican Women and Associate Member men. In the Q&A session, President Lincoln was not only familiar with the historical facts surrounding each question asked, but added ‘the rest of the story’ for his fascinated listeners. Well done, John Voehl (as Abe Lincoln).” Congratulations to those Regular and Associate…

President’s Message February 2019

President's Messages
You know when you're eating a breakfast sandwich and the eggs are salty, the bacon is crispy, the cheese is melty?  And everything seems to come together perfectly for one glorious moment?  That is what will happen at our February meeting with Abraham Lincoln as our speaker bringing a different message than he had last year. We all see people at our monthly meetings that we look at and wonder ‘are they a new member, are they visiting with someone, are they an old member who hasn’t been here for a while?’ or worse scenario ‘are they a regular member that I have failed to introduce myself to?’   Let’s set a goal this year to introduce ourselves to anyone we see that we don’t know, a 2019 goal to make…

President’s Message January 2019

President's Messages
Happy New Year, I hope your Christmas was joyful and filled with time with loved ones.  Going into 2019, I hope your goals and resolutions will be fully realized in the coming year. Our dues are due and must be paid in January to be included in the 2019 Directory.  Also, our ads in the directory help defray the printing cost, so I encourage you to place an ad yourself, talk to your friends and neighbors, encourage them to place an ad for their business and also encourage them to become a part of the DCRW family. The Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) will be receiving our Bucket Money this month, TAPS offers compassionate care to all those grieving the loss of a loved one who died while serving…

President’s Message November 2018

President's Messages
Our November meeting will be a little earlier in the month so we don’t interfere with anyone’s Thanksgiving plans. Starting with our November meeting, our reservation deadline is 8pm on Wednesday prior to our meeting. This month we will have our regular ‘Thanksgiving Lunch’ that Lone Tree does so well. I want to give a big ‘Thanks’ to Mona Weaver and Juli James for co-chairing our auction at our October meeting and to everyone who helped to make it a success, by donating auction items, helping with the setup, checking out, making cash donations, bidding and purchasing items. Because of everyone’s help, we were able to donate $5,000 each to the Senate Majority Fund and the House ‘Values First Colorado’ Fund.  The next time you see John Anderson or Frank…

President’s Message October 2018

President's Messages
Our October meeting is going to be a busy one, with Lang Sias our candidate for Lieutenant Governor coming to speak as well as our auction to raise campaign funds to help our candidates.  It is our ‘Fundraiser for Freedom’.  If you have an item to donate, please call – we can still pick up your item to auction.  Also, please, please bring a friend to do some early Christmas shopping at the auction, we have a lot of very nice, unique items I’m sure they can’t live without. Money collected when we “Pass the Bucket” this month will go to the Governor’s race.  If you bring a check, please make it payable to ‘Stapleton for Colorado.’ All of our candidates need your help – time, talent and treasure, so…

President’s Message September 2018

President's Messages
Here’s hoping that you have all had a safe fun summer and are now ready to go to work, we have two things that need our attention: 1.Our DCRW Auction will be held at the October monthly meeting, so remember to bring items you are donating to the September meeting.  Also, talk to the people you do business with (hairdressers, dentists, nail salons, boutiques etc.) and ask them for donations, but remember to complete the donor form.  Also, start now, encouraging your friends and neighbors to come to the auction. We really want this to be successful, so we will have a nice contribution to give our House and Senate candidates. 2.November election is coming up fast, so please share your time and treasure with our candidates. I know we…

President’s Message May 2018

President's Messages
It is hard to believe this is the May newsletter and after the May luncheon, we will be taking our three month summer recess until September. We may have a meeting recess, but we have a very important Primary Election on June 26 and an even more important election in November. Your candidates will need your help.  Let’s put our best foot forward during this campaign season, so we don’t have an ugly primary. Wayne Williams is facing a tough race for Secretary of State and George Brauchler for Attorney General – hop on board with one or both of them and let them know you are willing to volunteer. As announced, we will have an auction at our October meeting, and hope to raise enough money to make a…
