This last month has been one of devastation to our Country! With the hurricanes in Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico, it seemed like we could take no more! And then came the Las Vegas massacre! What a heartbreaking tragedy! As I’m writing this, we still do not know the reason why this man did such a horrendous act of evil. We have seen the worst and best of humanity. But the acts of heroism shown to the victims of the hurricanes and the victims of the slaughter in Vegas go to shine a light on how wonderful this Country is and how we care for our fellow citizens. We are blessed to have such a great and dedicated police force, first responders, fireman, doctors, nurses, and veterans, etc., plus just average American citizens who stepped up to help those in need. They were all heroes! This is what it means to be united . . . we must continue to come together as Americans and end the divisiveness that has separated us for so long. Of course, with the Left screaming for more gun control and the revocation of the 2nd Amendment by politicizing the Las Vegas shooting, it doesn’t look like unification will come very soon.

As the election looms closer for our Douglas Co. School Board, I urge you to support the four great candidates on the Elevate Douglas County slate: Randy Mills, our own Debora Scheffel, Grant Nelson, and Ryan Abresch. They need your time, talent and treasure now more than ever . . . and, of course, your vote! Please go to www.ElevateDouglasCounty.com to learn more about all four candidates and be sure to tell your family, friends, and neighbors to get out and vote.

I hate to keep harping on how frustrated I am about the lack of progress in Washington and the lack of support for President Trump. We elect these Republicans who promise us the moon and then they get to D.C. and fail to work together. They haven’t yet appealed Obamacare and now it looks like tax reform will end up on the cutting room floor. Of course, there have been a lot of good reforms that have been passed but the media never seems to report on those, do they?

I urge all of you to support our Non-Auction Auction, too. The flyer is in this issue and is our only large fundraiser of the year in support of the CO House and Senate. They need our help to retain the majority in the Senate and to take back the House!

As soon as the School Board election is behind us, we will be concentrating on the 2018 election, specifically for our Governor and Treasurer races. There are way too many candidates at this point and, in my humble opinion, I can only hope that some of them will come to their senses and drop out before the Primary. We have to take back the Governorship and keep a Republican in as Treasurer!

As noted in this Newsletter, if you’re interested in serving as a DCRW board member, please let anyone on the Nominating Committee know of your interest: Aleta You, Diane Holbert, and/or Kim Ransom. They will present a slate of officers at the October 18th meeting and voting will take place at our Annual Meeting on November 15th. If you want to make a difference, volunteer to help out.

I’m looking forward to seeing all of you on October 18th to hear from our CO Secretary of State Wayne Williams. It will be a very informative presentation that you don’t want to miss!
