Here’s hoping that you have all had a safe fun summer and are now ready to go to work, we have two things that need our attention:
1.Our DCRW Auction will be held at the October monthly meeting, so remember to bring items you are donating to the September meeting. Also, talk to the people you do business with (hairdressers, dentists, nail salons, boutiques etc.) and ask them for donations, but remember to complete the donor form. Also, start now, encouraging your friends and neighbors to come to the auction. We really want this to be successful, so we will have a nice contribution to give our House and Senate candidates.
2.November election is coming up fast, so please share your time and treasure with our candidates. I know we say it every time, but this election is of utmost importance especially the Governor’s race. We cannot afford to have Jared Polis as our next Governor.
It was good to see some of our members at the Douglas County Picnic! I wish more had been able to attend, but it seemed to be a busy weekend with lots of things going on.
There are going to be a number of important initiatives on the ballot in November, we will have two of those initiatives addressed at the September meeting:
1.A speaker from OnTheBallot Consulting will speak on the ‘setback’ Initiative 97. It is a statutory measure, meaning it can pass with 50 percent of the vote plus one.
2.Former Senator Greg Brophy will speak on Initiative 173. This initiative will allow candidates who cannot self-fund to be competitive when someone like Jared Polis throws large sums of money into his coffers to win a race. Did you know that Colorado campaign finance law allows for self-funders to spend unlimited amounts of their own money on a statewide campaign? As person who receives donations, you must abide strictly by campaign finance law limits, which restricts the amount of money you can raise for your campaign to a limit designated by the Secretary of State.
September 29-30 is the Colorado Federation of Republican Women Fall Convention to be held at the DoubleTree in Westminster. Please click here for the link to the Official Call and look at the great lineup of speakers they have. You don’t have to attend the entire convention, but can pick and choose and only pay for those events you attend, reservations are due September 15th.
